Bradbury School’s Definition of Action

 

Acquiring knowledge, skills and attitudes that empower us to be socially responsible citizens and to take authentic, sustainable action within the local and global community in order to make a difference to the world around us.

As an Action Leader at Bradbury School, our role is to inspire and empower others to take action and make a positive impact. We will encourage students, teachers, and staff to show initiative and contribute to the school community. We will lead by example, demonstrating good behaviour, and help people be accountable for their actions. Our goal is to create a culture where everyone feels motivated and supported to take action and make a difference.

 

Responsibilities:

 

1. Inspire and Empower Others:

  • Motivate and inspire others to take action and make a positive impact.
  • Encourage people to believe in themselves and take initiative.

 

2. Show Initiative:

  • Come up with new ideas to improve the school.
  • Lead projects and events that promote action and positive change.

 

3. Offer Help and Support:

  • Guide and support individuals and groups involved in action-based projects.
  • Work with teachers to include action-based learning in the curriculum.
  • Prepare materials and resources e.g posters and infographics or movies.

  • Help advertise events to the community.

 

4. Hold People to Account:

  • Set clear expectations and make sure people follow through on their commitments.
  • Give feedback and help others overcome challenges.

 

5. Be Principled:

  • Act with integrity, fairness, and respect in everything you do.
  • Promote values like inclusivity and social responsibility.

 

6. Model Taking Action:

  • Lead by example and actively participate in action projects.
  • Share our experiences to inspire others e.g in assemblies.

 

7. Encourage Others:

  • Recognize and celebrate the efforts and achievements of others.
  • Create opportunities for collaboration and learning together.

 

8. Make Contributions:

  • Help develop and action school-wide action initiatives.
  • Work with others to address community needs.
  • Participate in events.

  • Whole school events - run-a-thon, skip-a-thon
  • Food packing
  • Box of Hope
  • World Food Day Collection
  • Charity Days
  • PTA Winter Night Market
  • Make a wish days
  • Class/Year Group action events

 

As the Action Leader, we will play a key role in creating a proactive and engaged school community. We will inspire others to take action, contribute to the school, and make a difference. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to lead and motivate others in making positive changes at Bradbury School.
